Nationals
On the 5th, 6th and 7th of August, the
Spears Sochinkan Karate Academy travelled to the sunshine coast, where the
Australian National Karate Championships was held, to participate in the
tournament. This tournament proved to be a success as 6 medals were awarded to
three players. Yehia Hasanen achieved 2 gold medals in kumite, one for the
men's under 60 kilograms and the other for the NSW men's team. Also, Zeynab
Alshelh achieved one silver medal in the women's kumite under 55 kilograms
division as well as a bronze medal in the women's kata under 21 years of age
division. Rose Agha received two bronze medals in thewomen kumite under 55 and
under 53 kilograms division. These achievements proved to become an encouragement
to all the members of the club as they aim to continue their participation in
various tournaments, improving their experience and aiming to become karate
champions.
